Working Together

What helps us go from living a life of survival into a life lived to its fullest?

How i work

I don't always see symptoms as problems to eliminate. Sometimes they are signals—expressions of something that hurts, something that needs attention, or ways our system has learned to protect us. Many of the patterns that cause us difficulty today once made sense in the context of our lives. Others may reflect our temperament, biology, neurodivergence, or simply the particular ways we experience the world.

Therapy is a movement toward curiosity rather than judgment. Together, we explore what your patterns are trying to tell us, where they came from, and whether they still serve you. The aim is to create enough safety and freedom that old ways of protecting yourself no longer have to determine how you live.

Therapy isn’t about “solving the puzzle” of your life. Insight matters, but so do experience and meaning. Learning to listen to yourself and trust who you really are requires more than just knowing, it requires feeling.

My work integrates three complementary perspectives . . .

Insight

Understanding the patterns that shape us (psychodynamic psychotherapy and attachment theory)

We explore how early relationships, life experiences, and unconscious patterns influence the ways we love, think, protect ourselves, and make sense of the world. We come to understand the cause and effect process that created who you are today; we help make unconscious processes into something conscious. We help you to see yourself with greater objectivity and less judgment.

With that understanding comes greater freedom. We become less governed by patterns we don't recognize and more able to make intentional choices that reflect our values, meet ourselves with compassion, and shape our lives in ways that feel more fully our own.

Experience

Creating awareness and change in the body and nervous system (EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems)

Insight is essential, but it is rarely enough on its own. Many of us were never taught how to listen deeply to our bodies, recognize the felt experience of emotion, or know what to do with what we experience. Lasting change often requires slowing down, attending to sensation, and allowing the body and nervous system to reorganize and discover that the danger has passed. This isn't just about working with distressing feelings; it is also about developing and embodying experiences of safety, compassion, connection, and self-trust. We may understand what compassion and nurturing are, but that understanding means little if we cannot also feel them.

Safety is essential for growth, but it must be experienced, not simply understood.

Meaning

Integrating our lives into a larger story (family constellations, meditation and visualization, psychedelic integration)

Our lives are shaped by contexts larger than ourselves—our families, cultures, inherited stories, spirituality, and the natural world. What burdens did those who came before us carry, and what might have been passed down without our knowing? Can we honor where we come from while deciding what we want to carry forward?

Meaning can also help us relate differently to suffering. Can we find wisdom in what we have lived through? Can our challenges deepen our understanding of ourselves and our place within the larger human community? Sometimes making meaning means seeing our lives not as isolated stories, but as part of something much larger.

Working in Relationship/Couples & Family Therapy

Creating change together

Many of the patterns we struggle with are formed in relationship—and some of them can only fully change in relationship. Our closest relationships can bring us our deepest wounds, but they can also become places of profound growth, repair, and connection.

In couples therapy, my work is grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and informed by the Gottman Method. Rather than simply helping couples communicate more effectively, we explore the underlying patterns that keep partners caught in cycles of conflict, distance, or disconnection. The goal is to create greater emotional safety, understanding, responsiveness, and freedom within the relationship.
